Taylor Swift, in full Taylor Alison Swift (born December 13 1989 West Reading Pennsylvania U.S.) American pop and country music singer and songwriter, whose stories of youthful heartache earned her widespread recognition in the beginning of the 21st century. Swift's interest in music began in the early years of her life. From children's plays to singing in front of thousands of people, Swift made rapid progress. At the age of 11, she sang The Star-Spangled Banner before a Philadelphia 76ers basketball match and next year, she took up guitar and started writing songs. Swift took inspiration from artists from the country genre, such as Shania Twain, the Dixie Chicks and, more recently, the Chicks to create original material which reflected the alienation she experienced at 13 years old. Swift's family relocated to Tennessee from Pennsylvania when she was thirteen so she could be able to spend more time exploring country music labels in Nashville.
